About the artist

Norma Bruhn is a prolific artist with a career spanning over 40 years.  She has extensive mixed media expertise in welding, batik, watercolor and oil painting.  Her passion is impressionist oil painting in both plein air and still format.  Her plein air subjects ranges from farmland to hillside to seascape; her still subjects include flowers, fruit, animals and ordinary objects which she makes extraordinary with her range of lights and darks.  She has trained for over ten years with internationally acclaimed artist Guido Frick.

A painting is not complete without Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Peach and Dioxine Purple.  Norma finds that these colors add life and punch to her oil paintings.  The artist invites you to look closely at her artwork and find these colors in each painting.

On the following pages you will see original plein air oil paintings from beautiful places like Carmel, Carmel Valley, Point Lobos, Big Sur, Monterey, Seaside, Cannery Row, Moss Landing and Salinas Valley.  Also available, are paintings the artist made from trips to beautiful Utah, Sedona and Southern California.
